Telemedicine Walk-in Service

Now available in BC at select stores.

Call 911 if you are experiencing a medical emergency.

Welcome to our Telemedicine Service, connecting you to an online doctor. Our Telemedicine Service is a safe and convenient way for patients to consult on issues that do not require seeing a doctor in person. A doctor consultation is accessed online at select London Drugs stores or from your home. This service is currently available in BC only with BC licensed Physicians.

Telemedicine Service In-Store is currently available at ten London Drugs locations in British Columbia with the potential for expansion depending upon demand. You will be able to use our device to connect online with a doctor in a private pharmacy consultation room. When using our in-store service, patients have access to a physician, consultation with a pharmacist, prescription services, and follow-up care all in one place.

Telemedicine Service At-Home allows you to connect anywhere in BC, from the comfort of your home with a doctor. Prescriptions resulting from this service will be conveniently sent to a nearby pharmacy of your choice.

You can connect online using Telemedicine Service At-Home to consult with a doctor. Do NOT come to a store if you have COVID-like symptoms such as fever, dry cough, sore throat, loss of taste or smell, difficulty breathing or shortness of breath, chest pain or pressure. If you suspect you have COVID, call 811 or visit BC COVID-19 Self-Assessment Tool (thrive.health).

You can see the Telemedicine doctor about most health concerns virtually, especially if it’s your first time. If you are not sure, feel free to try out the Telemedicine service and the doctor will refer you to a clinic if needed. Below are examples of just some of the things you may see the Telemedicine doctor about:

  • Prescription refills for non-narcotic medications
  • Mental Health/Counselling
  • Specialist referrals where a physical examination is not required
  • Skin rashes, bites, minor wounds, etc. that can be viewed by the camera
  • Eye infections
  • Allergies (NOT having an anaphylactic response)

There are a few limitations as to the type of doctor visits because of the nature of Telemedicine. Below are some things you CANNOT see a Telemedicine doctor about:

  • Medical emergency (please call 911 immediately)
  • WCB injury
  • ICBC injury
  • Sutures removal
  • Prescription for Narcotic medication
  • Physical examinations (general physicals, baby wellness checks, breast exams)

Wait times will be dependent on physician availability and requests will be addressed on a first-come first-served basis.

We are currently offering as a first-come, first-serve basis only. To make an appointment in advance, you will need to reach out to a nearby doctor’s clinic directly.

Your prescription will be faxed to the London Drugs pharmacy you selected prior to seeing the Telemedicine doctor. Once our pharmacist receives your prescription, they will begin filling your prescription so you can pick-up during regular store hours. Standard wait times may apply if the pharmacy is busy. If you need the prescription urgently, please speak to our pharmacy staff and we’ll do our best to accommodate your request. If you have an insurance plan that allows direct billing of your prescriptions, please let our staff know and bring your insurance card so they can process the claim for you.

Some of our stores offer curb-side pick-up, side-walk pick-up, or prescription delivery services. Please call and speak to the pharmacy staff if you have a preference.

If you are connecting from home, hours are only dependent on doctor availability. You are free to request a Telemedicine Service At-Home anytime.

If you are looking to use our Telemedicine Service In-Store, please visit one of our participating locations during regular store hours and inquire with the pharmacist to determine if the consultation room will be available.
